U.S. Department of Energy Invests in Battery Production

The U.S. Department of Energy has announced the selection of 25 projects aimed at increasing the production of batteries and battery materials nationwide, with a budget of over $3 billion allocated for this purpose. The selected projects are expected to support the creation of 12,000 jobs.

It was stated that the selected projects would lead to the establishment of new local facilities for processed critical minerals used in batteries, battery components, and battery production and recycling. The support program is expected to generate a total investment of $16 billion for battery production and recycling.

U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm highlighted that the country is in the midst of a manufacturing sector revival, saying, “We are creating high-paying jobs by placing the U.S. at the forefront of advanced battery manufacturing, strengthening our energy security with global economic leadership, all while supporting the clean energy transition.”
