The Chairman of the Banks Association of Turkey, Alpaslan Çakar, attended the “2024 Arab Banking Conference,” organized under the auspices of the Qatar Central Bank, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Arab Banks Union.
During the conference in Doha
Panels were held that addressed various topics such as sustainable development and the financial needs of the Arab region, the role of financial markets, institutions, and instruments in financing development, financial technologies for sustainable finance, climate finance, and environmental sustainability.
As an honorary guest at the conference
Çakar engaged in bilateral discussions. Additionally, he signed a “Memorandum of Understanding” with Mohamed El Etrebi, the Chairman of the Arab Banks Union, aimed at fostering technological advancements with regional banks, conducting environmental, social, and governance initiatives, exchanging knowledge, enhancing professional development, and promoting collaboration between the banking sectors.
In his speech at the event, Çakar stated
“This agreement will not only deepen the exchange of information between our banking sectors but will also facilitate mutual benefits through joint projects, workshops, and conferences.”
He emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation
between our unions, noting that the improvement of relations in the finance and banking sectors will contribute to the growth of trade among regional countries and create new opportunities for businesspeople operating in this area.
