According to a statement from the Turkey Capital Markets Association (TSPB), the 24th Ordinary General Assembly meeting of TSPB was held in Istanbul with the participation of the Vice President of the Capital Markets Board, the General Managers of Takasbank and the Central Custody Agency, as well as TSPB’s Board of Directors and members.

During the General Assembly, which discussed the agenda items, the election of TSPB’s management and supervisory board members was also conducted. In the first board meeting following the elections, Pamir Karagöz, General Manager and Board Member of QNB Finansinvest, was elected as the president of TSPB. Karagöz became the first female president of TSPB.

IBRAHIM ÖZTOP HANDS OVER THE MANAGEMENT FLAG TO KARAGÖZ

Ibrahim Öztop, who has been the chairman of TSPB’s Board of Directors since 2021, handed over the management flag to Pamir Karagöz.

In the statement where his views were included, Karagöz said, “I believe that it is necessary to increase the representation of women in the boards of directors of our financial institutions and public companies for sustainable and strong capital markets. I am proud to be the first female chairperson of our union and hope it serves as an example to our companies.”

Thanking the former president Öztop and the management and supervisory board members, Karagöz noted that there has been strong interest in the capital markets from both the supply and demand sides in recent years.

Karagöz emphasized that capital markets add value to investors, companies, and the economy, highlighting the importance of increasing domestic and foreign investor interest.

He stated that the protection and information of investors will also be a focal point in the new term, and concluded his remarks as follows:

“As the most inclusive professional organization in the financial sector, TSPB will continue to enhance our activities that provide strong added value to our industry. We will increase our efforts to spread financial literacy and capital markets literacy to the wider society, especially to our investors, to ensure the growth and deepening of our capital markets and strengthen our investment ecosystem. We will strive intensively to increase the participation of foreign investors in order to establish Turkey as a regional center for capital markets.”

WHO IS PAMİR KARAGÖZ?

Pamir Karagöz began his professional career as an auditor at Deloitte Turkey. Between 1999 and 2008, he worked as a senior executive in various roles such as Retail Banking, Strategy, Sales, and Wealth Management at Citibank Turkey.

In 2008, he joined Barclays as a senior executive, where he was involved in new entry strategies, product development, customer value management, and strategic channel management in the countries he was responsible for.

Since February 2018, he has been the General Manager and Board Member of QNB Finansinvest, and in March 2024, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of QNB Digital Asset Inc., the digital asset company of the QNB group.

With 26 years of experience in banking and capital markets both domestically and internationally, Karagöz has led strategy, sales, marketing, product, channel, and segment management in countries such as Turkey, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, India, Indonesia, Egypt, Pakistan, and several African nations.

Pamir Karagöz has been a member of the TSPB Board of Directors and Supervisory Board since 2018 and has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Capital Market Licensing Record and Training Institution since November 2020.
