As you may recall, we previously shared the highlights and details of the bill known as the “Law on Amendments to the Capital Markets Law,” which is also referred to as the crypto law. Institutions operating under this law are required to apply for a license.
In August, the Capital Markets Board (SPK) made an announcement regarding “Crypto Asset Service Providers” and published the “List of Active Providers“. This list was created to inform the public about the organizations that have declared their intention to operate under Article 11 of the Temporary Provisions of the Capital Markets Law No. 6362.
The initial list we shared included 47 organizations such as Paribu, BTCTurk, Icrypex, Midas Kripto, Ortak, Binance TR, Garanti BBVA Kripto, and QNB Dijital Varlıklar. Those that submitted incomplete or insufficient information and documents as requested by the board, as well as those still under review, were not included in the “List of Active Providers.” It was noted that the lists would be updated once the organizations completed their deficiencies or once the board concluded its reviews. The updated list now features 81 organizations as a result of custody applications. The document shared contains the following statement:
The existence of the “List of Active Providers” does not imply that the organizations listed have been authorized under the relevant regulations.
