Atlassian announced the general availability of its new generative AI assistant, Rovo, today. Introduced to thousands of customers in a closed beta version back in May, this innovation aims to accelerate internal knowledge management and business processes, as detailed in our previous coverage. Powered by Atlassian Intelligence technology, Rovo enables users to extract data from internal tools, allowing them to access information more quickly and integrate it into their workflows.

Rovo features AI-powered search capabilities and a chatbot that acts as an expert, presenting content to users in a contextual manner across the company’s entire information portfolio. Additionally, Rovo contributes to business processes with its powerful AI agents.

According to Atlassian, Rovo agents function like virtual teammates, capable of handling complex tasks and integrated into workflows, saving users hours or even days of work. Atlassian’s Product Manager, Jamil Valliani, mentioned that Rovo will be available for free to users outside the Atlassian ecosystem. Departments that do not use Atlassian tools like Jira and Confluence will still benefit from Rovo’s search and chat features.

Rovo is not limited to Atlassian tools; it can work seamlessly with widely used platforms such as Google Drive, SharePoint, Figma, and GitHub. This extension allows Rovo to reach a broader audience beyond just users within the Atlassian ecosystem.

For example, individuals working on a Google document can ask Rovo about unfamiliar terms, gaining access to internal information, Confluence pages, or employee records. In this context, Atlassian highlights that Rovo will also provide significant support to software developers.
