Under the motto “Today, Tomorrow, Always,” BYD (Build Your Dreams), the world’s leading manufacturer of electric vehicles and batteries, entered the Turkish market in October 2023 and announced its investment decision in the country yesterday. The company stands out particularly for its battery technologies and innovative design approach.

BYD, which entered the Turkish automotive market under the Türkiye distributorship of the ALJ Group (which also houses brands like Toyota and Lexus), has Ismail Ergun as its General Manager in Turkey, while Ali Haydar Bozkurt holds the position of Chairman of the Board at ALJ Turkey.

The brand first introduced its fully electric SUV model ATTO 3 to Turkish automotive enthusiasts, and it also launched the plug-in hybrid SEAL U DM-i model for sale in Turkey in April, prior to its entry into the European market.

Last year, BYD sold approximately 3 million electric vehicles globally, including hybrids, and achieved sales of 1,426 units in Turkey during the first six months of this year with two of its models.

NEW DESIGN LANGUAGE STANDS OUT THROUGH TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION

BYD is expected to introduce its “BYD Tang, BYD Dolphin, BYD Han, and BYD Seal” models to the Turkish market in the future, standing out with its new design language, technology, and innovation.

The electric BYD ATTO 3, which offers a range of 420 kilometers, is available for sale in Turkey starting at 1 million 640 thousand lira, while the price of the plug-in hybrid SEAL U DM-i model, which offers a combined range of 1,080 kilometers, is currently being updated.

ESTABLISHED AS A PLUG-IN BATTERY MANUFACTURER IN 1995

Founded as a battery manufacturer in 1995, BYD offers electric vehicles to consumers in over 70 countries with more than 600,000 employees.

BYD launched the world’s first mass-produced plug-in hybrid model in 2008 and set a new record in July with the production of its 8 millionth electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle.

With over 30 industrial parks in China, the United States, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Hungary, and India, BYD covers a wide range of fields, including automotive, rail transport, new energy, and electronics, standing out with technological innovations for a better life.

In recent years, it has pioneered significant developments such as Blade Battery, DM-i and DM-p hybrid technology, e-Platform 3.0, and CTB technology. The company has distinguished itself as the world’s first automobile manufacturer to stop producing fossil-fueled vehicles during the electric vehicle revolution and has been at the top of new energy passenger vehicle sales in China for nine consecutive years.

BYD WRAPS UP 2023 WITH RECORD SALES VOLUME

According to announced data, BYD completed 2023 with record sales volume. Exceeding its annual sales target of 3 million with 3 million 24 thousand 417 units, BYD became the global sales champion of new energy vehicles (NEV) for the second consecutive year. Of this sales figure, 1.6 million units consisted of fully electric vehicles.

BYD also maintained its position as the best-selling automobile brand and manufacturer in the Chinese market.

In the first half of this year, BYD’s fully electric vehicle sales reached 726,153, marking an 18% increase compared to 616,810 sold during the same period in 2023. The brand’s plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) sales also saw significant growth, rising 58% year-on-year to 195,032 units in June.
