The European Union (EU) announced on Tuesday that it has imposed tariffs on up to $4 billion worth of US goods, in retaliation for illegal American subsidies to Boeing. This move comes after the World Trade Organization (WTO) ruled last month that the EU could impose tariffs on US exports as a consequence of the ongoing dispute over aircraft subsidies between the two trading partners. The EU stated that it hopes these tariffs will push the US to come to the negotiating table to resolve the long-standing issue.
