China’s economy grew by 9.0% in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year, according to official data released on Monday. This growth rate was slightly lower than expected but still reflects a strong recovery for the world’s second-largest economy following the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chinese government has set a target of achieving a GDP growth rate of “around 8.5%” for the year as a whole.
