According to information obtained from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Minister Şimşek will complete his visit to Singapore, which started today, tomorrow evening.

During his two-day stay in Singapore, Şimşek will meet with numerous investors and hold bilateral official meetings.

He is scheduled to meet with Singapore’s Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Lawrence Wong, and will also be received by Singapore’s President, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, as part of the visit.

These discussions will focus on the trade and economic relations between the two countries.

As part of his itinerary, Şimşek will meet with representatives from the real sector in Asia, and he will also have discussions with managers of global investment funds during the “road show” he is conducting for the first time in Asia.

During these meetings, Şimşek will present Turkey’s economic program and invite companies and funds to invest in the country. The companies Şimşek will meet are significant in terms of their potential for direct investment.

There is a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between Turkey and Singapore, which is one of Southeast Asia’s important trade and financial centers.

The strategic importance of the two countries’ locations for each other is notable. While Turkish companies see Singapore as a base for the Asian market, Turkey is regarded as an important center for Singapore-based companies to access the European Union market.

ATTENDING THE FATF PLENARY SESSION

Minister Şimşek is also expected to participate in the Plenary Session of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) that will be held in Singapore.

He is scheduled to speak at the meeting, where Turkey’s status on FATF’s gray list will also be discussed.
