At its annual Adobe Max conference, Adobe announced new AI-powered features for its Creative Cloud applications. Notable innovations include the automatic background distraction removal tool added to Photoshop and an enhanced Firefly AI model. Additionally, other applications like Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro are updated with new features that streamline design processes.

The new “Distraction Removal” tool added to Photoshop can automatically remove unwanted objects from photos with a single click. Previously, the tool only allowed users to select and brush away one object at a time, but now it can automatically recognize and eliminate common distractions like cables and people. This feature is currently available on both the desktop and web versions of Photoshop.

Adobe has improved the Firefly AI model, enhancing tools like Generative Fill, Generative Expand, and Generative Background. This new model understands complex commands better and produces more realistic results. Furthermore, the Photoshop web application can now automatically select all objects in an image, speeding up the editing process.

The “Objects on Path” tool added to Adobe Illustrator makes it easier for designers to align and move objects along a path, while tools like Mockup and Image Trace have been enhanced to provide sharper and clearer outputs. The Generative Expand tool added to InDesign allows for images to be extended to fit the desired layout, similar to the functionality in Photoshop.

Finally, with the introduction of the Firefly AI Video Model in Adobe Premiere Pro, videos will also benefit from AI-powered expansion features. Although this capability is currently in beta, it is expected to be integrated into most Adobe Creative Cloud applications next year. These new tools from Adobe accelerate the workflows of visual creators while making the power of AI technologies more accessible.
