YouTube is being updated with many small yet useful innovations aimed at enhancing the user experience. Among these updates, the most notable change is that the playback speed can now be adjusted in increments of 0.05. Previously limited to increments of 0.25, this feature allows users to watch videos at precisely their desired speed. However, playback speed is still capped at 2 times the normal rate, leaving the possibility for higher speeds in the future.

The miniplayer on mobile is also being improved. Users can now resize the video player and reposition it to different areas of the screen, enabling them to watch videos while browsing other content at the same time.

There are also some new features for playlists. Users will be able to create playlists collaboratively with friends by sharing a link or by scanning a QR code, a feature that will soon be available on televisions. Additionally, a voting feature will be introduced for videos within these playlists. This allows friends to vote on the order of the videos or decide what to watch next.

YouTube’s new sleep timer offers a practical solution for those who enjoy watching videos before bed. This feature allows users to stop videos after a designated period, with the timer adjustable between 10 minutes and 1 hour. There is also an option to stop playback when the video ends. Initially available only to Premium users, this feature can now be accessed by all mobile users.

Some of these innovations will start being available to users today, while it may take a few days for others to reach all accounts.
